The season ends with a draw against the Robins

Nothing could separate the two sides at the County ground as the game ended goaless. This was possibly the sternest test of MK Dons so far given some of the high scoring games their opponents have been involved in.

Swindon tried to set the pace early on in this match up. I fully expected this given Holloway spoke about his side looking to prove a point after their 3-1 defeat at stadium:mk earlier in the season. The men from MK1 did try to match the Robins tempo with both sides ultimately cancelling each other out.

Neither team had many chances of note. Paul Warne’s defence kept Harry Smith and company quiet in the most part. Much has been made this season of young Town forward Botan Ameen, who only had a couple of driving runs at the MK defence.

Definitely a relief from a fans perspective when the final whistle blew. 24/25 has been a season to forget. As long as recruitment is good during the summer I fully expect both of these clubs to be challenging at the sharp end of the League Two table.

Talking point: Our wing backs need to discover their best form

Aaron Nemane, was lively going forward at times and put in a shift but did fade out as the game went on. He has often been criticised defensively but you can’t argue with his nine assists this year which have pretty much gone unnoticed in what has been a very poor campaign. Nemane arrived in the summer as a goal scoring full back with eight last season for Notts County but none for the Dons this season. Offensively the 27 year old does suit Warne’s style of play. I wouldn’t even rule out the Dons boss pushing him into a more advanced position.

What happened to the Joe Tomlinson of last season? The left back recorded impressive numbers in his debut campaign in Milton Keynes with thirteen goal contributions, seven goals and six assists. The 24 year old has been a shadow of himself this year with four goals and three assists. When watching Tomlinson he appears to be low on confidence compared to earlier in the season. The clubs several managerial changes have definitely disrupted his rhythm, maybe contributing to his lower goal tally this time around.
